“Come Away and Be Still”

“The contemplative life must provide an area, a space of liberty, of silence, in which possibilities are allowed to surface. . .and become manifest. . . . Hence, open to others—compassionate time; rooted in the sense of common illusion and in criticism of it.”
(from The Asian Journal by Thomas Merton)

The Carmelite Nuns of Hudson, Wisconsin invite you to experience a time away from your work, and the daily stress of our world today in their recently completed hermitage/guest quarters on their property. We are happy to share this space with you for the time you need for retreat, silence, rest, meditation and renewal of life.

The Carmelite Nuns are located in the diocese of Superior, Wisconsin in the city of Hudson, on the scenic St. Croix River which flows into the Mississippi and which is known for its cleanness and beauty. We are 30 minutes away from the Minneapolis and St. Paul airport. Shuttle to Hudson and you will be picked up if necessary. Call for scheduling and more information.

The Hermitage has many simple yet, convenient amenities for those who need to be away for a time to reflect on their lives interiorly and exteriorly. Among these are:
